Rural Chinese Families Photographed With ‘Everything’ They Own

These pictures give a new meaning to living with only the necessities. Huang Qingjun spent nearly a decade trying to convince people to pose with all the items they own outside their houses. “I wanted to shoot the families outside of their homes with the items they lived with, so people could see the fast development and changing lifestyles Chinese families were experiencing both inside and outside of their homes” said the 40 year old photographer. The pictures reveal that besides hundreds of thousands of people migrating to cities, there are still many parts of China that have not yet been afflicted with modernization.
