Man Refuses to Give Up On His Dream of Becoming a Pilot, Spends 15 years and £20,000 To Build a Replica Cockpit in His Home

As a child, John Davis always dreamt of being a pilot. His obsession with aviation grew with age, however, when he realized that he didn’t have the mathematical skill set to fulfil his dream of ever becoming an air line pilot. Instead of getting depressed, he decided to achieve his goal, and his ambition one way or the other.

John spent 15 years and over $30,000 building a life-sized Boeing 747-400 simulator. He can “fly” without ever leaving his home.

The cockpit appears to be the exact replica of the real thing. John is not only living his own dream but is also helping people over come their fear of flying. “The aim is to help people who are nervous about flying by letting them get used to the feel and sounds of a real plane,” he says.
